Manitoba's Transportation Department is studying the possibility of twinning the last remaining undivided stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway in the province.

Premier Greg Selinger says it would mean adding more lanes between Falcon Lake and the Ontario border, a distance of about 15 kilometres.

Selinger said that work is not currently being planned, but should be considered.

He noted that Ontario, along with the federal government, will soon be twinning the highway on the eastern approach to the provincial border.

Manitoba's minister of infrastructure, Ron Lemieux, said it would be a challenging project. He noted there is a lot of rock that would have to be moved.
